It Starts With The Mind
(Colossians 3:1-4)

Key Truth: Walking in Christ requires that we align our thoughts, desires and motives with the things of Christ.

  1. Align your PASSIONS with the things of Christ. (Colossians 3:1)
  2. Submit your THOUGHTS to the control of Christ. (Colossians 3:2)
    1. John MacArthur: “Heavenly thoughts come only from understanding heavenly realities.”
      1. Your mind determines what you live for.
      2. Your mind transforms your ability to live for Christ.
      3. Your mind should be longing for heaven.
      4. Your mind should focus on things which please God.
      5. Your mind cannot live in multiple realms. It is focused on the flesh or focused on Christ.
    2. We set our mind on the things of God as we apply Philippians 4:8 to every choice we make.
  3. Conform your MOTIVES to the reality of Christ. (Colossians 3:3-4)
    1. You have died to your own flesh and your own selfish desires. (Colossians 3:3)
    2. Your life is now hidden with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:3)
    3. You will appear with Christ in glory. (Colossians 3:4)
