About This Study

Discipline is hard, but the reward is great. The reward of discipline is freedom. An accomplished musician can sit down in front of a new piece of music, play it through, and make it look easy. The freedom to play with such skill comes from years of disciplined practice. In the same way, the freedom to grow in godliness is in large part dependent on a deliberate cultivation of the spiritual disciplines found in God’s Word. Far from being legalistic or restrictive, the spiritual disciplines are actually the means to unparalleled spiritual liberty.

If you’d like to embark on a lifelong quest for godliness, this study will help you on your way. We will examine a carefully selected array of disciplines including Scripture reading, prayer, worship, serving, stewardship, fasting and learning. We will conclude by looking at how we can persevere in the disciplines. For each of the disciplines, we will look at why it is important and how it will help you grow in godliness.

This study offers you a refreshing opportunity to embrace life’s greatest pursuit—the pursuit of holiness—through a lifelong delight in the disciplines.
